S01E03 - You may know Pythagoras because of his triangle. I always assumed that we call it the Pythagorean theorem because it was invented by the man after whom it is named: Pythagoras. But while reading about him, I discovered that Pythagoras most likely didn’t invent it at all.
He left his mark on philosophy in many other ways, though. Pythagoras and his followers became known for the radical idea that everything is number. But they didn’t stop at abstract philosophy. They formed a strange and secretive community that tried to put these ideas into practice, following strict rules and an unusual way of life.
So who was Pythagoras, really?
