WWFD, 820KHz in Frederick Maryland, turned off its analog signal in 2018 to become the first all-digital Medium Frequency HD Radio station in US. Operating under experimental authority from the FCC there was much to learn. Mike Raide was there, and explains how HD radio works, and the modifications that were required to upgrade WWFD from AM analog to HD all-digital broadcasting.
