My purple martins had been gone for most of the day yesterday after having gone through 3 cold & wet days with no bugs flying. As a storm started rolling in late evening with strong winds from the south, my purple martins started coming in high from the north in small groups , fighting against the southerly winds. They are fascinating to watch as they appear to slowly drift in as the winds built in intensity. They are quite the acrobats and beautiful fliers!
