You can't spell Boilermaker without "maker." During the COVID-19 pandemic, Purdue University has manufactured thousands of pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE), thanks to a donation of raw materials from 3M. The donation was arranged by two Purdue alumni at 3M, Kenyon Sayler and Jeffrey Kehoe. Mukerrem Cakmak, Reilly Professor of Materials and Mechanical Engineering, is making the PPE with roll-to-roll manufacturing in a cleanroom at Birck Nanotechnology Center.
