In this episode of the Spark Art Series, we show you how children used everyday waste materials to create magical, story-based puppets during Shuru Art Foundation’s Let’s Start Art session.
Through the theme “Stories in Stuff,” children transformed old socks, cloth scraps, cotton, and paper into characters like:
- a man who can walk on water
- a child who paints the clouds
These ideas weren’t copied from anywhere—children imagined them.
And when children imagine and build something from scratch, their prefrontal cortex becomes active, boosting their creativity, problem-solving, and confidence.
Since 2017, Shuru Art Foundation has worked with 1,900+ children across 30 government primary schools in Banaras, helping them think independently through art-integrated learning.
