In 1989 during an air show in Le Bourget, Paris, a Sukhoi Su-27 under the command of Soviet pilot Viktor Pugachev is about to do the unimaginable. The light blue Russian fighter begins to raise its nose until it is practically stopped. The most surprising thing is that, without losing altitude, the aircraft immediately returns to its original trajectory and continues as if nothing had happened. That date would be remembered by the world public as the day on which the “cobra” became known, and thanks to the person responsible for the feat, it would later be renamed the “Pugachev Cobra.”
