Military Force | What happens when a pilot LANDS BADLY on a US aircraft carrier? @militaryforce-official | Uploaded July 2023 | Updated October 2024, 6 minutes ago.
The aircraft carriers have a catapult system that assists the takeoff of the ships. These systems can be powered by steam or electromagnetically, but basically they give the plane an extra push so it can reach hover speeds before the runway is gone. Although this process is not easy and involves the work of hundreds of people, the real challenge is the landing, since the ships must descend on a moving target, reducing their speed precisely.
