I tried this during the pre release versions but it was not possible so I didn't bother trying again once the game released.
But then Jeff Belding commented that it was indeed possible to do but it was a tight trick.

Basically, you have to jump, turn around and get damage boosted at the peak of the jump. This lets you reach enough height in order to get above the top level.
