A weak CMOS battery in your PlayStation 5 can reset the system clock and may interfere with game license checks (including PlayStation Plus titles), especially when youâre offline. In this HowFixit step-by-step guide, youâll learn how to replace the PS5 CMOS battery (CR2032) on the 2022 original PS5 revision (CFI-1200).
This tutorial covers CFI-1200A / CFI-1202A / CFI-1208A / CFI-1215A / CFI-1216A / CFI-1218A (Disc and Digital âBâ models). Youâll see safe disassembly, fan removal, optical drive removal, motherboard access, CMOS battery swap, and a complete reassembly walkthrough. I also include optional liquid metal servicing steps (Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut) if youâre already servicing the APU interface.
After reassembly, set the date/time (or connect online to sync automatically), then launch a game to confirm everything works.
