I 'fixed' a broken PS4 off eBay using the washer fix about 2 years ago. It started playing-up recently ... just as I sat down with a new copy of The Last of Us Part II on Disc!
Since I had it open, I thought it would be worth showing the washer fix in case it is useful to anybody else. This is a well-known trick and not my idea.
This PS4 is an older model CUH1116A. It was originally sold to me (wrongly) as white light of death. I replaced the HDMI chip (not shown in this video) but it turned out it was really a blue light of death unit, which can be a bit of a nightmare.
The washer fix got it going and it has been working ever since ... touch wood.
