Plan C | Amstrad CPC6128 Gotek, Bwack Saver and Mosfet Reverse Polarity Protection from Scrap Drone Parts @Plan-C | Uploaded June 2020 | Updated October 2024, 2 hours ago.
I decided to tidy-up my Amstrad CPC6128 because it was running off two wall warts - one for the computer and one for the disk drive. One was centre pin positive 5v and one centre pin negative 12v!
To protect against future mishaps, I fitted a Bwack saver over-voltage unit in series with an n-channel mosfet that I pilfered from a broken drone ESC. I do some tests out of circuit to make sure it all works. I also fit a Gotek with an OLED screen and 3d printed bracket.
Video shows:
Wiring of Gotek to existing Amstrad cables
Overview of programming Gotek (very brief)
How to wire the Bwack saver into the Amstrad
How the Reverse polarity protection mosfet works.
Tests out of circuit.
Fitting
Good Luck All.
