Modeling of a Prussian Model 1848 Artillery Saber. This design was very similar to the 1811 "Blucher" saber, which was itself a copy of the British pattern 1796 light cavalry saber. The sword's blade was significantly thinner, ending in a spearpoint rather than a hatchet-point, but otherwise kept the same "p-shaped" hilt design. This saber proved itself very successful, being used by horse artillery batteries during the Second Schleswig War (1864), Austro-Prussian War (1866), and Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871). It's compact design meant it was easy to carry, later being issued to the infantry as their standard edged sidearm. It became very popular with officers, and saw continued use by the German Empire through World War 1.
This model was designed in Blender 4.1.1. in the 1/35 scale. Total modeling time came in at 2 hours and 4 minutes.
