Modeling of a Prussian M1839 Potsdam Musket. This was a percussion-lock musket chambered in .71 to .75 caliber, first adopted by the Royal Prussian Army in 1723. It saw four iterations on its design (M1723, M1740, M1809, M1839) and saw the Potsdam arsenal make a name for itself with the weapon, becoming a standard German-made long-gun for most of the principalities within the Holy Roman Empire.
As early as 1831, Prussia's arsenals began a large-scale conversion of the M1809/12s from flintlock to percussion. All conversions received the M1809/12 UM designation, while every newly built musket, rifled or smoothbore, received the M1839 designation. By 1841, the Royal Prussian Army began phasing out the musket in favor of the Dreyse Needle Rifle. Many were sold to the Union for use in the American Civil War, with a contract for 165,000 smoothbore & rifled M1839s arriving in the US between 1861 and 1862.
Note that "UM" stands for _"aptiertes model"_ which translates from German to _"adapted model"_ or _"updated model"_
This model was designed in the 1/35 scale and modeled in Blender 4.4.3. Total modeling time came in at 8 hours and 21 minutes.
