Enrique Iglesias one of the best-selling Latin artists Of all Time was born in Madrid, Spain. His father is the famous singer Julio Iglesias, and his mother Isabel Preysler is a well known Spanish-Filipino socialite and television host.
Enrique and his dad didn't spent much time together, because of his father's busy schedule. So the young Enrique was raised by his nanny.
Also Things at school were not really great for him
Can you believe that Enrique Iglesias was not popular with girls when he was a teenager.
"In high school I probably got rejected 70% of the time. I was too skinny and small. I ended up going to the prom by myself."
Few weeks before the prom, the girl he was going with dumped him.
As a teenager he began silently following his father's footsteps
When He gave his first live performance in school, he fell in love with music, so he began performing in restaurants with his friends. But kept it a secret from his family.
After graduating from high school, He began studying business at the University of Miami. But just after a year at college he decided to drop out and fully commit himself to music.
He didn't want his father to know about his plans for a musical career and didn't want his Father's famous name to help promote his music. He borrowed money from his nanny and he recorded a demo tape. But used the stage name 'Enrique Martínez'.
Things were not easy for him. He was rejected many times.
"Actually, with some companies I used my real name. I got rejected with both. But I didn't get discouraged, because I didn't know what it felt like to be successful. Everyone gets rejected - record companies, a lot of times, are so blind.
Many record companies didn't believe that Enrique Iglesias could ever be successful musician.
Thankfully, Enrique Iglesias never stopped believing in himself. He decided to make his dream a reality and show everyone how wrong they are.
His first album itself sold a half a million copies in its first week and he became a star overnight.
Till this day, He has sold over 150 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling Latin artists Of all Time. The International pop star Enrique Iglesias has won over 200 awards and has been named The King of Latin Pop.
