‘Breaking Barriers’ is a documentary that follows the young band’s journey towards an Indian future of casteless mentality. ‘The Casteless Collective’ is a young protest band from Chennai, South India. Founded at the end of 2017, the 15-piece band plays an eclectic mix of folk and `Gaana´ from North Chennai‘s slums mixed with rap and rock music. With their lyrics, the band raises problems suppressed in Indian society, such as discrimination against Indians of lower castes, the situation of women, the disadvantaged position of LGBTQI+ people and other marginalised groups in India.

This documentary shows the band's powerful attempts to break cultural stigmas and its fight through music towards the establishment of a casteless society in India.
