Lindsay Clancy's former mother-in-law, Susan Clancy, testified in her defense on Tuesday, claiming she was a loving mother who was "begging for help."

During her cross examination, Prosecutor Shanan Buckingham asked Susan is she was an active member of the Catholic Church, to which she replied, "yes."

"Are you aware that murder is considered a mortal sin?" Buckingham asked.

Judge Sullivan ordered the question stricken from the record.

Lindsay Clancy has pleaded not guilty in the killing of her three children — Callan, Dawson and Cora — who were found dead in the family’s Duxbury, Massachusetts, home in January 2023.

Prosecutors say she planned the killings, while her defense argues she was suffering from bipolar disorder and postpartum psychosis at the time and should not be held criminally responsible.
