--- 1947 United Nations Partition Plan for Palestine was a plan to replace the British Mandate for Palestine with "Independent Arab and Jewish States".
Aras reaction: Arab leaders threatened the Jewish population of Palestine, speaking of "driving the Jews into the sea" and ridding Palestine "of the Zionist Plague".
Jewish reaction: The Jewish Agency praised the resolution. Zionist leader Chaim Weizmann said " It is now our primary task to establish relations of peace and harmony with our Arab neighbors"

During 2008 alone Israel has removed 140 roadblocks and eight central checkpoints. As of December 2010, Israeli authorities report that 27 out of 41 manned checkpoints, and more than 200 unmanned roadblocks- more than a third of the total roadblocks- have been removed.
