This is the ever elusive Promontory Peg. A very simple trap used by the Native Americans in the harsh territory of Northern Utah. The way the trap worked has been a mystery until recently. A fellow named George W. Michauid was able to unlock it's secrets by building it with the same stone tools the Native Americans would have used as opposed to a steel knife or saw.
