Amid a host of emerging and evolving global security threats, the prospect of radioactive contamination from a “dirty bomb” must receive the attention it deserves.
October 13, 2021 the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) hosted a virtual panel with experts from the National Academy of Sciences, National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Government Accountability Office (GAO), and the Government of Switzerland.
Over the course of an hour and a half, the experts discussed what actions we can take to prevent a dirty bomb, what we can learn from real world accidents about the consequences of a radioactive material release, and how NGOs and government can effectively partner to address these issues.
