Precision Silicon Asphere Manufacturing - Made Possible with OptiPro Equipment. Watch the process of manufacturing a precision asphere from a silicon blank to the finished optic using OptiPro's PRO 80 GTS and eSX 150 CNC grinders, PRO 80 UFF, and OptiTrace 5000 contact profilometer. The PRO 80 GTS and eSX 150 were used to grind the plano surface, the Best-Fit-Sphere, and the asphere. PRO 80 UFF, which utilizes OptiPro's patented UltraForm Finishing process, finished the asphere to a PV of 0.45 waves. The OptiTrace 5000 surface profilometer verified the surface quality of the finished asphere, as well as provided feedback into the PRO 80 GTS, eSX 150, and PRO 80 UFF in order to make corrections.
