In Eastern Visayas, budo is shaped by salt, sun, and time. In this episode of Heirloom, we follow Ina Araneta and her family in Tanauan, Leyte. What began with a small capital has endured through rising fish prices, monsoon seasons, and typhoons. Fish arrives before sunrise, is soaked in salt, dried under intense heat, and sold across public markets in Leyte.
There are no shortcuts in fermentation. No spectacle. Only repetition, patience, and trust in process. This is a story about preservation—not just of fish, but of livelihood, family, and generational knowledge.
