A group of 14 members from an extremist Christian cult in Australia has been found guilty of manslaughter in connection with the death of eight-year-old Elizabeth Strauss. Elizabeth had type 1 diabetes, a condition that requires regular insulin treatment to maintain life. Instead of providing her with this essential medical care, her parents—under the influence of their religious leader and fellow cult members—chose to rely solely on prayer for her healing. Over the course of six days, Elizabeth suffered without insulin, ultimately succumbing to complications from her untreated condition in January 2022.
