Here is one way to practice reading for an early reader. I found a book that matched a song that the learner already knew. I started with this so that the learner could be successful and would be motivated to participate. I started by pointing to the words when the learner said them. Then if the learner missed a word, I held my finger there and redirected them to look at that word. I provided a spoken model if the learner was not able to read the word. I reinforced attempts to sound out a word.
