In 2019, Synth Punk outfit POWERPLANT rocked the Egg Punk world with the beautiful, bizarre, terrifying LP People in the Sun. They should have, anyway. I remember tastemakers like Harikari and Anti hailing PP as the Next Big Thing, and it just kind of never was. Hell, I listened to it, dug True Love and forgot about it. Man, I wish I hadn't, though, cause this music is something else.
So, fast forward to 2022, and Powerplant teamed up with audio madd scientist Gizzmoix to re-release the album on GBA. I picked it up as soon as I could and was at first disappointed as it was just the album playing. I saw it as a novelty item. Upon a few more listens though (including a fucking SICK walk I took one day with nothing but my DS Lite and Headphones) I realized the album here is blanketed in this absolutely delectable GBA compression, which really fits.
I now see this as the definitive listening experience for this LP. Sorry about the ear-piercing sound in quiet parts, I tried ripping this several times and it was always there.
