Well here we are, My Phone's About to Die: the 'breakout' 2014 release by Austin zolo wizards Pataphysics! This album meant so so much to me in high school. It still means lots to me right now! After years of development hell (starting life as two seperate releases, Pentagonal Tape and Tiny Songs), the 2014 follow-up to Take a Look Out Your Window features tighter production, twitchy songwriting, and the great Paul D. Millar!
While I feel the following 'Future of Synth Rock' certainly superannuates it in many ways, this album is still full of great songwriting and unique wiggly sounds! If you haven't listened yet, please feast your ears on what a friend once described as "Oingo Boingo for hot people"!
