Controlled Demolition, Inc. (CDI) of Phoenix, Maryland, USA (acting as Explosives Subcontractor to Main Demolition Contractor, NorthStar Contracting Group, Inc. of Orlando, Florida) performs the preparation for and explosives felling of a hung boiler and coal silo bay in southern Georgia on December 5, 2021.
NorthStar selected CDI’s option of leaving the silo bay and integral silos in place during the implosion rather than pre-removing same, knowing that their large equipment would easily handle the increased height of the post-implosion debris pile on top of those silos.
