Surviving Power Outages in Ecuador
In this video, I share the ongoing struggles we're facing with power outages here in Ecuador. Over the past three days, we've experienced eight-hour power cuts daily. Today, the power went out at noon and is scheduled to be off until 4:00 p.m. Our building's generator only powers essential services like elevators, some lights, garage doors, and refrigerators, leaving us without air conditioning or a comfortable living environment during these outages.
I also received an email from the ACS Quito state government informing about school and business closures and significant planned electrical outages for April 18th and 19th. The poor electrical infrastructure here is causing major disruptions, and many locals, including myself, are expressing concerns on social media. Despite the challenging conditions, there is hope that the new administration will address these issues. However, immediate improvements are unlikely, so be prepared if you plan to visit or live here. If possible, find accommodation with a full-building generator to ensure minimal disruption during power outages.
