In this update, I share the reality of Ecuador’s current power outage crisis and how it’s impacting daily life here. Power cuts have extended up to 14 hours a day, and the outages aren’t always as scheduled, making planning nearly impossible. While some buildings have generators, many are breaking down, running short on fuel, or are simply too costly to maintain consistently. Even major places like the Mall del Pacífico have had to cut hours due to limited generator availability.
For those considering a move to Ecuador, particularly digital nomads or retirees, this situation is something to consider. With maintenance issues and drought-related challenges, there’s uncertainty about when reliable power will return. Additionally, I open up about my personal battle with tinnitus, a recent struggle that’s added more weight to these challenging times.
