Though i may criticize teokop's play at times, i definitely can't hate on someone so willing to play 2P with me!
This game offered a fair amount to criticize, though, as i suspect they aren't really used to France 2ers yet. The most obvious mistake was putting the 10 up for bid when they already had 08 and i would be guaranteed an 11 drop. 11 is easily worth $20+ in 2P when the early market isn't great, though 21 on deck here would've dropped its value a bunch. Still not a plant you want to give to your opponent at cost on turn 3, in any case! The 12 being drawn next only strengthened my position there.
Another mistake that drastically shifted the game in my favor was letting me have the 21 too cheap. With the lousy 23 up next i was ready to go $35-40 here, but teokop let 21 go at only $27! 17 was drawn next to make matters even worse, and i cruised from there.
In fairness i will also point out one significant mistake i made in this game: getting too greedy with the builds. Toulouse was far more valuable to me than Rouen since it controls access to a lot of the red region, and teokop did a great job punishing me on that one. Might have been a $20-30 swing overall?
You could also argue that teokop should have bid the 25 higher since coal was so cheap at that point and they badly needed capacity. It went to me for $39 but had a case to go as high as $45, and i would've given it up by that point. Teo did end up with a solid 4-4 plant setup for Step 3, but the cheap resources meant that my 25 & 21 made at least as much money as those smaller plants. Cheap fossil fuels aren't uncommon on France due to the stronger focus on nuclear plants, and that's something you need to adjust to if you don't have a lot of experience on that map.
Also happened to land 30 at cost with perfect timing, as i didn't need it that turn but Step 2 began next turn (making trash fairly cheap). Teo giving me the 39 at cost just made the win even more obvious, though they landed a perfect drop with 38. Didn't matter in the end, at least!
