I got out on the beach a bit before sunrise to crazy strong winds and sand blowing everywhere! I knew it would be a challenging shoot to get the low perspective you need for shorebirds and it was but it was also so much fun. I got some unique looks due to the blowing sand and the camera gear held up just fine! I concentrated on using the Nikon Z9 and Nikon Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 to capture the mood of the morning. With dramatic clouds in the sky the light was great and changing for a full hour. I had so much fun photographing running Sanderlings along the surf line as well as a variety of gulls with stunning colors in the sky behind them. Towards the end I spent most of my time with Semipalmated Plovers capturing them as they fed in the wet sand pulling small worms as they went along.
