We've been installing new, 7' faregates at rail stations since March. Unsurprisingly, the first two stations to receive them, Firestone and Lake stations, have seen dramatic reductions in unpaid entries.
The new gates have now arrived at Wilshire/Vermont, North Hollywood and Vermont/Santa Monica stations on the B Line.
In addition to being much more difficult to sneak through without paying, the new gates make it much easier for passengers with bicycles or luggage. They are also equipped with sensors that record fare evasions, providing valuable data that will help us deploy staff more effectively.
Over the coming months, these new faregates will be installed at the following stations:
7th Street / Metro Center (B/D A, E Lines)
