Locals and visitors alike know what Potato Chip Rock is - a popular granite flake where one can obtain a unique photo. But few people know that the PCR is just one of many boulders on Mount Woodson. For years, Mount Woodson was an unassuming 2,881 foot peak near Ramona in San Diego County; but once the Potato Chip Rock became popular, it was one of the hottest hiking trails in the county. Out of both routes to PCR, the eastern route up the mountain from Highway 67 is shorter, easier, and with less elevation gain; and allows the casual and experienced hiker more time to reflect, and for those that know how to boulder; opportunities to do a little climbing.
