Closing arguments concluded today in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, who killed her three young children at their home before attempting suicide in January 2023.

The jury is now deliberating on first-degree murder charges, which involve “deliberate premeditation and extreme atrocity,” but they also have the option of considering lesser manslaughter charges. No verdict was reached today, and jurors will resume deliberations tomorrow morning.

Clancy’s mental health is a key issue in the trial. Her defense argued that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and that a hallucinated voice compelled her to act when she strangled her children.

In closing arguments, prosecutors maintained that Clancy was a “functioning mom” who knew the difference between “right and wrong.”
