Portuguese Bowline - How to Tie the Portuguese Bowline - Bowline with 2 Loops
I really did not know that there are so many Bowlines in the world. How many Bowlines are there? In this short video I will demonstrate how to tie the Portuguese Bowline.
According to Ashley's, although this is a sailors knot, it is not very well known amongst English speaking sailors. He also goes on to say that the Portuguese Bowline makes a very good emergency boatswain's chair. The idea is that a man can sit in one loop and the other loop is the back of the chair around his chest. However, I am sure that health and safety would not allow this to be used today.
