In Delta, B.C., federal Transport Minister Steven MacKinnon announces that a set of proposed upgrades to the Port of Vancouver known as the Gateway Strategy are being referred to the government’s Major Projects Office for possible fast-tracking.

Also speaking at the news conference are British Columbia Transportation Minister Mike Farnworth, Tsawwassen First Nation Chief Laura Cassidy, and Vancouver Fraser Port Authority President Peter Xotta, as well as Liberal MPs Jill McKnight (Delta) and Parm Bains (Richmond East—Steveston).
