Here is a rather unique compilation no one has charted before here on YouTube: American-built "Pony" type locomotives. I was completely oblivious to this conceptual nomenclature until doing research on a railroad for a professor a few months back where he elucidated upon me the valuable information of the Ponies. A Pony locomotive is one that is designed with a single set of driving wheels. As such, here is a small section of Pony engines in action:

0:00 - Cumberland Valley Railroad "Pioneer"
0:48 - Galena and Chicago Union Railroad "Pioneer"
1:13 - Baltimore and Ohio Railroad "Lafayette"
2:56 - Central Pacific Railroad "C.P. Huntington"

On a technicality, I could not include the famous "John Bull" here because she was originally designed as a 0-4-0. I even asked my professor about John Bull and stipulated a Pony had to be originally designed with singles. As such, the compilation here focuses only on four locomotives. Granted there have been several other engines in the United States with single drivers throughout the 19th and very early 20th Centuries but these are the only engines to have been filmed while under steam. Hope you enjoy!
