The question is, "What are Polystyrene Beads or Expanded Polystyrene Beads?" I get lots of emails and phone calls from people looking for the white beads that fill up bean bag chairs. Some people are looking to fill their own bean bags at home, and there are big companies that are also looking for it. The only issue with the beads are that most of the manufacturers have gotten away from selling the EPS beads to the general public and businesses because of the unpredictable nature of the business.
An EPS bead starts out as a plastic resin. When you combine the resin with heat and steam it puffs out to the bead that you are familiar with. You can get them in small quantities at local shopping markets, but they are very expensive that way.
So, it is very hard to find companies that are willing to sell the EPS in this form. However, there are a few companies out there that are willing to do it, and when you do find these companies, they have very good prices.
