EPS Geofoam Used in the World Embankment Method
In the United States EPS Geofoam has been used in Alaska, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Louisiana, New York, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and Indiana.
Other countries that have used Geofoam include British Columbia, Canada, France, Germany, Holland, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Norway, Philippines, and Thailand.
Geofoam was first used in the 1970s and over 3000 projects have been completed with more than 2.5 million cubic meters used. In 1985 the United States only used about 10% of the worlds Geofoam, but by 2007 that number rose to 70%.
