Here's a promotional film for the paint and chrome sealant PolyGlyCoat which advertised on local TV stations (including those in Chicago) all through the 1970's and very early 80s.
Includes:
A look at two Oldsmobile cars, with the narrator explaining one of them will retain their shiny new, showroom look three years from date of purchase: the one that had PolyGlyCoat put on
Various people asking, "Poly WHAT?!" and "What is PolyGlyCoat?," followed by explanation about its function, with showing of a paper that mentions a 3-year guarantee (with a registration number and limited warranty, sold only at new car dealerships) and a drawn parrot who would have been PolyGlyCoat's mascot at the time; an animated demonstration on how it works (and what it isn't - a wax)
In response to one woman asking about washing, a special PolyGlyCoat maintenance kit supplied by the dealer would take care of the occasional dirt that gets on the car surface; the individual portions of that kit are shown, and the signed warranty gets sent by the dealer to PolyGlyCoat
Next, what to do if a car is damaged in a crash or accident - the dealer has the whole car recoated free where the damage is, after repairs are made - also applicable to trucks and motorcycles
One man washing his used car asks about protection for same; PolyGlyCoat applies warrantied protection to used cars under 4 years old, backed in writing for a full year
The piece ends with a whole set of cars and vans shown in rapid succession, followed by the voiceover explaining the benefits of PolyGlyCoat for the vehicle owner
