The investigation into a deadly weekend shooting in Martinsville has expanded across state lines as detectives work to identify everyone who was at the scene and locate additional witnesses who may have already returned home.
Martinsville Police Chief Chad Rhoads said investigators believe some of the people who witnessed the shooting may be from outside the Martinsville area and have not yet spoken with detectives. Police are seeking information from people in Danville, Pittsylvania County, Eden and Rockingham County, North Carolina.
"This is going to be a widespread investigation involving a lot of different jurisdictions," Rhoads said. "So all the help that we can get."
