Body Cam Video Police Saving Woman From Creepy Old Man - On December 20, 2023, at approximately 10:00 PM, two officers with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission were on routine patrol at Gandy Beach in Pinellas County, Florida. Signs posted at every entrance to the beach indicated, “No trespassing from sundown to sunup unless actively fishing.” While patrolling, they observed a vehicle parked on the beach occupied by two individuals.
As the officers approached the vehicle, the passenger-side window was down. One officer identified them as state police. The passenger began reaching under the seat and making movements toward the center console and the driver. The officer instructed the passenger to show his hands and, upon noticing paraphernalia at his feet, directed the passenger to exit the vehicle. Instead, the passenger slammed the door shut as the officer attempted to open it. The officers managed to restrain the passenger, who resisted being handcuffed by pulling his hands away and spinning. Eventually, they successfully placed the passenger in handcuffs, as well as the individual in the driver’s seat.
The officers separated the two individuals, and one officer read the driver their Miranda Rights. The driver agreed to speak and admitted there were drugs in the vehicle. She specifically mentioned crack cocaine, stating that the passenger had thrown a clear plastic container containing crack at her feet when the officers approached. During the vehicle search, the officers located the plastic container and two metal pipes used to smoke crack.
The passenger declined to speak, invoking the right to remain silent. The driver expressed fear of the passenger, alleging that he had physically abused her, leaving bruises, and burned her skin with cigars. However, the officers observed no visible bruises, though there was a mark on her hand resembling a burn.
The passenger was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, and resisting without violence. He was transported to the Pinellas County Jail. The driver, too distraught to drive, arranged for her sister to retrieve the vehicle.
