No, seriously, they didn't need to add a fourth kid into the group, but they simply couldn't let the fact that the (former) main trio was two chicks and one dude. Heaven forbid there were more girls than dudes!

(...Which is sad because Ult, as little development he's gotten, is far and away more endearing than Roy; his boss, NOT rival. Calling them rivals would be a lie.)
