Yes you CAN get Diamond Dust legitly on English HeartGold, just change your date on your DS or Computer (If ROM) to 10th of October of 2009, and no 2010 WON'T work, only 2009 will, because 2009 was the year of the event.
Anyway, here's my video of battling Red on Mt. Silver in my English HeartGold ROM. I used:
- May, whom is the Latias I have on my Platinum, except that I created her from PokéSAV to have her on my ROM;
- Ms. Ice, whom is a Lapras I stole from Misty using the 100% Catch code (which works as a "Catch Trainers' Pokémon" code too) and edited with PokéSAV;
- PsyKnight whom is a Gallade I created with PokéSAV, but hatched from my Platinum ROM;
- Flora whom is my starter Meganium from a past save file which I deleted;
- Rose whom is my starter Typhlosion from this save file, which was the reason I deleted the past save file, so my Rival would have Feraligatr;
- Feraligatr, whom I stole from my Rival. XD
You must be thinking "OMG WHAT EMULATOR DID HE USE?! PERFECT GRAPHICS AND GAMEPLAY SPEED!" Yeah well, I used DeSmuME, yes the slow, but awesome DS emulator, and to record the video? I used DeSmuME's encrypted AVI recorder, which works exactly like VBA's AVI recorder, the speed of the video will be exactly the same as the game's gameplay speed, it won't be slowed down because of too many graphics or open programs, it'll be 100% normal speed.
I used only one Pokémon per Red's Pokémon, I didn't have that much of a strategy, I only used the Pokémon I thought were best for the upcoming Pokémon. I'll probably make another video in which Red's starters will be put up against my starters of the same type each.
