*Gym leader rematches are scaled to the highest leveled Pokemon in your party.
Through the wonder that is Codebreaker, I managed to get past the glitch that made the elite 4 challenge incomplete. I can confirm that it is a bug within the game as the 2 champion battles were plagued with game crippling glitches, all of which caused the game to crash and making it impossible to record. The problems don't stop there. After the elite 4 challenge is completed, the player is given the option to have rematches with the 8 gym leaders. Matches 1 through 7 work just fine but the 8th rematch simply doesn't exist. Claire, the 8th gym leader, is nowhere to be found. I also found conflicting reasons for this online, with the general consensus being that if she is not at the gym, then it's a bug, or I'm playing an older version.
I was also able to find the missing TM's after doing a reddit search. The TM's are definitely missing. They aren't in the game. They must be acquired through use of a Codebreaker cheat. Having access to the TM's finally allowed me to use Team Furret for these rematches - both the current and the classic line up with Nidoking.
As of right now, I am currently done this with hack. This is another long one. The CPU in this game loves to spam Full Restores. I did my best to trim out all of the unnecessary parts to focus on the action.
