In Pokemon Red and Blue, there are a total of eight types of battle transitions. Which one will be played depends on the combination of three different factors:
- If it's a wild battle or a trainer battle
- If it's a dungeon map or not dungeon map
- If the enemy is at least 3 levels higher than the player or not.
