Today we are kicking off my new Microwave Magic series with a super easy breakfast favorite—poached eggs in the microwave! If you have ever wanted a quick poached egg without boiling a pot of water, this method is for you.
I’ll show you how I make a microwave poached egg, what to watch for, and why you really do need to babysit it while it cooks. Trust me on that one! 😂
Served on a simple toast raft with flaky salt and cracked black pepper, this is a fast and delicious breakfast idea that anyone can make.
Microwave ovens use non-ionizing electromagnetic energy to heat food. They do not make your food radioactive. If you prefer the stovetop, that’s fine too—but today we’re making Microwave Magic!
What you need:
1 egg
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon white vinegar
Microwave-safe bowl
Microwave-safe plate or cover
Toast, for serving
Flaky salt and cracked black pepper
Basic method:
Add water to a microwave-safe bowl
Stir in vinegar, if using
Crack in the egg
Gently pierce the yolk
Cover loosely
Microwave in short bursts, watching carefully
Drain and serve on toast
