After a very backed up and delayed two days from the Thanksgiving holiday, the day 663 crew on the Portland and Western made a backwards trip down the OE, instead of to Vancouver, with a train comprised of two different sets of cars from the BNSF to head westbound to Albany totaling in 90 cars. With the trailing tonnage being almost 10,000 tons and with Tonquin being such a steep grade, more power was needed to climb the hill.
The comprised OE Express/Harbor Turn and 663 power included PNWR 3053 (EMD SD40-2), PNWR 3051 (EMD SD40-2), PNWR 2302 (EMD GP39-2), PNWR 2317 (EMD GP39-2), PNWR 2312 (EMD GP39-2), and PNWR 2316 (EMD GP39-2).
