PN ships sails from Oman
On April 21, 2020, Philippine Navy ships BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PS16) and BRP Davao Del Sur (LD602) are now on its way home from Oman. The ships will make a short stop at Port Cochin, India to pick up donations of personal protective equipment by a private company, the Philippine Navy said.
According to the Philippine Navy, during the mission, the 400-man contingent led by Marine Colonel Noel Beleran made its historic milestone for the Navy, these include the historic sail on the Indian Ocean by PN ships that validate its status as a Navy that is now capable to sustain operations across open oceans; also, the port visits to Sri Lanka and Oman that paved the way to reinforce diplomatic ties with these countries. Furthermore, the deployment of the contingent fostered national pride for our overseas workers through engagements with Filipino communities there.
The BRP Davao del Sur is the second ship of her class of the Philippine Navy's landing platform docks. While the BRP Ramon Alcaraz is an offshore patrol vessel in the Philippine Navy and the second ship of the Gregorio del Pilar class vessels.
Meanwhile, the ships are expected to arrive in Manila by the third week of May, said the Philippine Navy.
