This summer, MIT-WHOI grad student Jaida Elcock played tag with a whale shark! 🤙🏽🦈✨
To study the behavior of the largest fish in the ocean, Elcock attached a temporary "spot tag" that records the shark's location. After the tag popped off, Elcock played "hide and seek" to retrieve the biologger data!
Elcock is studying whale shark migration patterns to understand why these filter-feeding fish are coming to the New England continental shelf— and what they could be eating out there!
