Did you know that playing this game with a steering wheel makes the driving physics very similar to F-Zero AX? Still not 100% the same thing, as there will be no rocket start mechanic and T-Drift will not work for some reason.
But the way the drift turn and the attacks work will be the same as AX. To do a drift turn, tap the brakes while steering. Even the way the machine drifts will be identical to AX. To do a side attack, tap either L or R twice (like in F-Zero X) and to do a spin attack, cut the wheel while holding both L and R.
